Beit Telmissany
Beit Telmissany is a writers’ residency situated along the Cairo-Alexandria Desert Road (Egypt) in the Palm Oasis compound. It is conveniently located 5 km from Sphynx International airport, 10 km from Abu Ghaleb village, and 20 km from the Sulaymaneya district in Giza. Founded in 2019 by writer and academic May Telmissany, the Beit aims to support writers from Egypt and around the globe who wish to immerse themselves in their craft away from the city’s hustle and bustle. Novelists, short story writers, poets, scriptwriters, translators, and scholars are encouraged to submit self-funded or fully-funded residency applications. The Beit features the library of the late film director Abdel Kader Telmissany, a portion of the library of the late writer Edward El Kharrat, and May Telmissany’s own collection.
2025 Residency Program
The fully-funded residency program will be announced in August 2025.
The duration of the stay for applicants is two weeks, from December 2025 to May 2026.
The Beit is closed in the summer and the fall for maintenance.
